September is filled with fun things to do with family from theater, festivals, to outdoor movies, farmers markets and so much more!  



  1. 15th Annual DC State Fair – September 7th 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The DC State Fair showcases the District’s creative talents and a daylong celebration of all things homegrown. Cost: Free https://www.dcstatefair.org/events/dc-state-fair-2024
  2. DC Bike Ride – September 7th. A family-friendly course through iconic historical landmarks and vibrant scenic views on a completely car -free course designed for all experience levels.   3. Celebration of Textiles: Colors of the Silk Road Festival - September 7th 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. There will be vibrant textile traditions from along the Silk Road through artist demonstrations, crafts and performances for all ages. Cost: Free https://museum.gwu.edu/celebration-textiles
  4. 44th Annual Adams Morgan Day – September 8th The longest-running neighborhood festival in the District will buzz with music, food, vendors, family-friendly activities and an “Artisan Stroll”. Cost: Free https://www.admoday.com/

Union Market District Art Walks - Every Sunday, Friday, and Saturday, hours between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Explore the vibrant public art of Union Market District with longtime partner Jason Bowers of DC Mural Tour.   9. Farragut Field Days - Every weekday 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. A a series of lively events filled with lawn games, exciting

  11. Story Time: Astronauts Zoom! (National Air and Space Museum) - Every Thursday 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. An exhilarating spin through the alphabet and a day in the life of an astronaut.   12. The Kennedy Center Disney’s Coco - September 20th at dust on the Reach Lawn. Despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz.   13. H Street Festival - September 21st, H Street Festival is one of the most anticipated and highly attended single day festivals in Washington D.C.  The festival is 12 blocks long and has 15 staging areas that are diversely themed and programmed to target the different segments of audiences. One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure (National Air and Space Museum) - Every Thursday and Sunday 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. In this free planetarium show, join Big Bird and Elmo as they explore the night sky with Hu Hu Zhu, a Muppet from "Zhima Jie," the Chinese co-production of Sesame Street.   16. Fiesta DC - September 28th and 29th The Nation's Largest Latino Festival. This two-day extravaganza transforms Washington,

Asian Art Museum – Family Fun Day - September 30th 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. docents in the exhibition Anyang: China’s Ancient City of Kings for engaging and collaborative hands-on activities that are geared toward families with children ages 5 and up.
