Welcome to the best city in the world! If you don’t agree, fight me! Just kidding. Do not fight me. I am the same size as a very small mammal and will tell my mom 😝!!

If you are visiting DC, or like me, this city is home, here is a guide to amazing places in the city to meet up for play dates.

  1.  National Museum of the American Indian play area that is open from Tuesdays to Sundays. I recommend calling before going to double-check that the play area will be open. Cost: Free https://americanindian.si.edu
  2. Wegmans Wonderplace play area at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Opened Wednesdays to Sundays. Cost: Free https://americanhistory.si.edu/explore/exhibitions/wonderplace
  3.  The United States Botanic Garden - just grab a few toys and head over there. My kid played with the stones for one hour, and she had the time of her little life! Cost: Free https://www.usbg.gov
  4. National Arboretum!!! if you haven’t been, fix your life and go. Cost: Free https://www.usna.usda.gov
  5. Check out the butterfly pavilion on Tuesdays starting at 10 am for free tickets at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Cost: Free https://naturalhistory.si.edu/exhibits/butterfly-pavilion
  6. MLK library has a really great rooftop, that I meet friends at for play dates. I definitely recommend bringing toys. The library has a great indoor slide that my little one was apprehensive about. They also have open play during the week. Cost: Free https://www.dclibrary.org/plan-visit/martin-luther-king-jr-memorial-library
  7. The building museum is another amazing place! This costs $10 for adults and $7 for children. https://www.nbm.org
  8. The Smithsonian National Zoological Park! DC is amazing because … have you seen our Zoo?! You know our zoo is phenomenal! Cost: Free https://nationalzoo.si.edu
  9. National Gallery of Art - Sculpture Garden - this beautiful gem, is right in the heart of DC. It makes it feel like every day is love day when you go there. Cost: Free https://www.nga.gov/visit/tours-and-guides/sculpture-garden.html
  10. One of my favorite places, when the weather is nice, is the rooftop at Union Market. It gives brunch vibes but without the mimosas. Also, you have your child and toys, and you leave once the real brunches show up. Cost: Free https://unionmarketdc.com
  11. Looking for a sundowners play date idea? Try Right Proper in Brookland! A local brewery that has outside seating with TOYS!!! Just be prepared for your child to play with rocks while you try to merge your old life with your new. https://www.rightproperbrewing.com/brookland

I hope this guide comes in handy and please, if I overlooked, or left a place out, let me know. I am not above learning, so humble me 😉.
