Happy April! All the signs of Spring are here. We’ve seen lots of flowers starting to bloom, the birds are chirping, and most excitingly, Saturday was opening day for the H-Street farm fresh market. We were so excited to see so many of vendors from last year along with a few new faces.
We were especially excited for a vendor that was selling cacti. We bought a couple and hope that we do a better job of keeping them alive than last years Venus flytrap plant.
Just like the cacti, we were reminded that sometimes life is prickly. The middle school years can be especially so and even more if you don’t have the resources that you need.
This week we were able to speak with a teacher from Brookland Middle School. She is spearheading efforts to collect deodorant and feminine hygiene products for the students at their school.
This week we will tell you how you can get a cactus of your very own and how you can help some of our neighborhood kids.
