Miner Elementary Holiday Greenery Sale

Deck the Halls and Support a Local School

By Anita November 11, 2021

Our family loves decorating for the holidays. We love the lights, the colors, and everything that sparkles. Mac Kid insists that it is too early to start decking those halls but it isn’t too early to start preparing.

This year Miner Elementary school will host their 6th annual greenery sale. This is the 4th year that they will partner with Eliot-Hine Middle School who will sell poinsettias at the same time. Just click on  https://miner-elementary-greenery2021.square.site/#yYzmkp and you can order your trees, wreaths, roping, poinsettias, and even your tree stand without leaving your house.

The prices are right in line with what you would pay at a commercial tree lot but you have the added benefit of knowing that you will be helping a local school. Douglas Firs run from $40-70, you can snag a Balsam fir tree for $80-90 or purchase a Frasier fir tree for $100-110.

The first year that we bought a live tree, we came home and realized that we had no tree stand to put it in. Many of the stores were sold out so we had to hit many of the big box stores before we found a stand. Unfortunately, it was too small for our tree. Luckily, not many of the ornaments broke when we learned the hard way that it was too small. But you don’t have to experience our pain, Miner will include the tree stand for an extra $20-25 dollars.

In addition to trees, you can purchase wreaths for $30-40 or white pine roping for $30. They are also selling beautiful red poinsettias for only $10.

On-line pre-orders close on December 2 and then you can pick up your holiday choices on December 3 and 4 at the school.

Although it is recommended that you pre-order for the best selection, you can also head over to Miner Elementary at 601 15th Street NE from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday December 3 or 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday December 4. There is also an option to donate towards helping a family in need to have their own Christmas tree.
