Alternatives to Trick-or-Treating

Our neighborhood is one of the best places in the world to trick-or-treat. Many families go all out on decorations. If you go to a house on the corner of 11th and F Streets NE you will even see an elaborate Harry Potter house. However, not everyone wants to go trick-or-treating and others want more than just one night of Halloween fun. We have a list of some of the best alternatives.

Thursday, October 28, 4:00-7:00 PM, PumpkinPalooza is back at Alethia Tanner Park. Found at 227 Harry Thomas Way, NE you can enjoy food, music, a scavenger hunt, pick-your-own pumpkins, a kids costume contest, and the Great Zucchini. Check out our calendar to register ahead of time for this free event and reserve your free pumpkin.

Friday, October 29th, 5:30-7:30 PM, Hilloween is back! There will be trick-or-treating, face painting, a photo booth, and more. It is all free although there will be snacks and other goodies for sale. No need to RSPV and it will happen rain or shine. It all happens at Eastern Market.

Saturday, October 30th, 3:00-5:00 PM, Bat Festival. Join the DC Department of Energy and Environment and learn all about bats. There will be bat games and even bat crafts. It is free but registration is limited. See our calendar for the link to reserve your spot.

Sunday, October 31, 11:00 AM -2:00 PM, The Metropolitan Police Department will host the 5D Fall Festival for the Fort Lincoln Community at 2519 Baldwin Cres. NE. Just show up and join in the fun for no charge.

Sunday, October 31, 2:00 PM, Celebrate Halloween at National Harbor. Children in costume get a free ride on the Capital Wheel and Carousel with the purchase of an adult admission. This is only for kids under 10 and there is a limit of two children for each adult admission.
