Mac Kid and Mac Mom were at the craft store looking at craft and baking supplies. They always check out the clearance section when they are there. This time Mac Kid saw silicone molds in the shape of gems and said that she was going to make jello in them. Mom originally didn’t think that it would work and normal finger jello sometimes has a watery taste but Mom and kid worked together to find a tasty treat. The detail of the molds really showed in the jello with this recipe that is a little thicker than the normal finger jello. There is a lot of sugar in this recipe. However, the individual jello shapes are really small so one treat wasn’t enough to delay bedtime with a sugared-up kid bouncing off the walls. Although we made this with orange jello and soda, you could make it with any flavors that you have on hand.
Ingredients
1 c. boiling water
1 c. orange soda
2 3 oz. boxes orange jello
2 envelopes unflavored jello
Directions
1. Mix unflavored and orange jello in a bowl or large measuring cup
2. Stir in one cup boiling water until jello is fully dissolved.
3. Stir in soda.
4. Pour into molds (we had some left over so we poured it into small containers and it was perfect for lunch boxes).
5. Refrigerate overnight.
