Glowstick Fairy Jars

By Anita July 21, 2021

Like most other elementary school girls, Mac Kid loves fairies and unicorns. She is always looking for a craft to do and after she had used most of her Christmas gift craft kits we had to get creative. We also wanted a craft that we could make from things that we had around the house with little expense. These glowstick fairy jars fit our criteria and the kid had a blast making them. This is a craft that could take as little as 15 minutes or the many hours that we took choosing the images and assembling the jars.

What you need:

Empty jars, bottles, or ice cream buckets

Glow sticks

Water

A Cricut and black vinyl or a printer, paper, black ink, and tape

Directions:

  1. Remove the labels from the jars or other containers.
  2. If you have a Cricut or other cutting machine, cut out solid shapes of fairies, unicorns, castles, or other shapes that you choose. The images should be small enough that it fits on one side of the container.
  3. If you don’t have a cutting machine, look for the same shapes on your computer and print them out in solid black. Then cut out those images.
  4. Adhere images to the containers. If using a printer, tape them around the edges to the container so that the paper is flat. Smaller pictures are easier to work with.
  5. If the glowstick will not lay down on the bottom of the container, fill the container with water.
  6. Activate the glowstick and place it in the container and put on the lid. If it is a bigger container, line the bottom of the container with the activated glowsticks.
  7. Enjoy your easy to make fairy jars.
